Star Wars: Rebel Snowspeeder

Since the last semester was very hard, i hadn't much time for painting. But now i have time enough to work on my projects again. For a start, i tried out building the Snowspeeder from Revell's Star Wars Pocket Model range. Those are relatively cheap prepainted models, which only have to be clipped together. So here's what comes out of the box:

It's very easy to build that model, so it was done in 20 minutes, including cutting the parts out of the sprue. I think its an easy way, to get a ready-to-play Snowspeeder for the Star Wars Miniatures Battles game.

I normaly don't like prepainted models, but in this case (other than the Wizards of the Coast Star Wars CMG) the plastic is normal polystyrol so it should be no problem to fill gaps with green stuff and paint the model normaly. I'll do that some day in the future ;-)
So i hope to write more here, as my projects develop. Samuel Vimes from Micro Arts Studio was finished yesterday. Pics come as soon as possible!

Discworld - Esme Weatherwax

In a miserable attempt not to learn (i succeeded) i painted Esme Weatherwax. She is one of the whitches on the Discworld. Sadly, i didn't read a novel with her so far, but this will be changed soon.

Next exam is on wednesday. I hope, i find more time for painting afterwards.

Discworld - Death and Rincewind

Death is one of the most fascinating characters in Pratchett's novels. He isn't cruel, he just fulfills his duty. And he likes cats!
The miniature of Micro Arts Studios new range is - like all miniatures of this range - of very high detail. The Death of Rats standing at his side is just one of the things, fanciers of the Discworld Novels will notice at once when looking at those beautiful pieces made of tin.

Rincewind is the second miniature i painted from this range - the others will follow sooner or later (my heart says soon, but my upcoming exams say later...). I just love the way he stands there with his shoulders hanging down. Painting him was great fun, although it's hard painting those red areas. However, i'm very satisfied with him.

A great inspiration for painting the Discworld Miniatures is the book 'The Art of Discworld' (dt. 'Die Kunst der Scheibenwelt') which features tons of drawings and illustrations of all of Pratchett's characters from Paul Kidby. It's not hard to see, which illustrations the sculptors of Micro Art Studios used as a reference.

Darth Vader

For a start, i want to show you the Darth Vader modell from West End Games i painted last summer.

So this is it...

... just another blog on the internet. So what is it all about? For at least six years (holy shit, the time runs fast!) i count myself to the illustrious ring of wargamers. Since time got very rare and playing the games went more and more to the background, painting the miniatures was my destiny. At the moment, my main project is the fantastic series of Discworld Miniatures from Micro Art Studios. Other systems are The Lord of the Rings from Games Workshop and the old Star Wars Miniatures Battles from West End Games.

Have fun!
